Despite Latest Trump Gig, Working with Nielsen Still Poses Serious Risk

WASHINGTON – Following news that President Trump has appointed former Homeland Security Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen to the National Infrastructure Advisory Committee, government accountability group Restore Public Trust released the following statement:

“Kirstjen Nielsen has accepted yet another appointment from the president. The move is hardly surprising, despite reading months of blind quotes in news stories about how she supposedly fought the Trump administration from the inside,” said Karl Frisch, a senior advisor to Restore Public Trust. “Nielsen helped execute and defend Trump’s horrific family separation policy and her new appointment will have her rubbing elbows with heavy-hitting leaders of private industry. They are on notice: Nielsen’s record is a non-starter. Working with her now and in the future poses significant reputational risks.”
