Following Restore Public Trust’s Lawsuit, House Oversight Moves To Hold Ross in Contempt

WASHINGTON — Restore Public Trust released the following statement after news broke that House Oversight is moving to hold Secretary Wilbur Ross and Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena from the committee for information about the citizenship question.

“We applaud Representative Cummings for moving to hold Secretary Ross and Attorney General Barr in contempt of Congress,” said Lizzy Price, spokesperson for Restore Public Trust. “Americans have had enough of this administration’s cover-ups, stonewalling, and outright lies. We deserve to know the truth about how and why the Trump administration added a question to the census that will ultimately shortchange some Americans and give more power to others.”

This move comes just weeks after Restore Public Trust filed a lawsuit against Secretary Ross for refusing to fulfill several Freedom of Information Act requests, and just days after The New York Times reported that the administration worked with an expert on Republican gerrymandering to draft the citizenship question.
